The 24 hours of Daan Glorie

Daan Glorie is a student of the Johan Cruyff University Amsterdam and an ambassador for the Johan Cruyff Foundation (he is one of “Johans’ 14” this year), and the Ronald McDonald Centre. On June 4 and 5 he tried to beat the 24 hour swimming record, and although he didn’t succeed to swim more than 101 km, he did complete the 24 hours and broke the Dutch record (83 km and 450 meter).

Daan is happy about his performance. He comments proudly: "After the 88km in Argentina in February, I trained for this event and you know beforehand that it doesn’t come with a guarantee, so all-&-all I think I did very well being the first Dutchman who swam over 83km in 24 hours."

Daan did his exhausting experience for two good causes: the Ronald McDonald Centre Only Friends and the Johan Cruyff Foundation. Next academic year, Daan has a scholarship from Helden Magazine & the Johan Cruyff Foundation to follow the International Master of Sport Management at the Johan Cruyff Institute Amsterdam, which we deliver in English.
